Lyrics

Eternal Light/The Mercy of the Lord(John Michael Talbot)
a) ETERNAL LIGHT pt 1
Eternal Light has come among mankind,
yet mankind has chosen darkness
But if we openly confess
we need His light, we need His Love
The Light has created all the world
yet the world did not receive Him
If we walk within the light
as He is the light, He is the light
though we have sinned we’ll stand forgiven

b) THE MERCY OF THE LORD
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy
Christ have mercy, Christ have mercy
Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on us

c) ETERNAL LIGHT pt 3
So let us come as little children
to turn from the sins of prideful men
So let us come with hearts of sorrow
so we may His joy again
Remain with Him now as little children
so when He reveals Himself again
we shall not stand within darkness
So walk in His light until the end
We need His light we need His love,
we need to stand forgiven

Kyrie (kyrie/Marc Coderre)
Kyrie eleison, Kyrie eleison
Christe eleison, Christe eleison

“I am the light of the world
whoever follows me will not walk in darkness
but will have the light of life”

Confiteor Deo Omnipotenti
Beatae Mariae semper Virgini
Sanctis apostolis
omnibus sanctis
Et tibi Pater

Mea
Quia peccavi nimis
Mea culpa

Mea culpa
Verbo et opere
Mea maxima culpa

Prayer For Guidance / The Mystery (John Michael Talbot)
Most high and glorious God
bring light to the darkness of my heart
Give me right faith, certain hope
and perfect charity
Lord give me insight and wisdom
so I might always discern
your holy and true will

Can you be the light of the world?
Can you be the light?
You take the light that’s given to you
Can you be the light?

Can you give your love to the world?
Can you give your love?
You take the love that’s given to you
Can you give your the love?

Illumination (Marc Coderre)
In these times it’s easy to feel afraid
These days, our sense of security’s held hostage by our fear
These days, we don’t know whom to believe in anymore
And I can’t see how we’ll achieve peace through more war

refrain:
Illumination, illumination
Bring light to the darkness of my heart
Illumination, illumination
A beacon in the dark

What kind of world will we leave our children?
These days, is peace nothing more than an idealistic dream?
These days, there’s got to be more to life than pain and sorrow
And I wonder, is there any hope for our tomorrow?

(refrain)

Show me the light, show me the light
Show me the light, illuminate my soul

We can’t afford to be indifferent
These days, we should know better than rush to judgment
These days, we can’t afford to be ignorant
And it’s clear that none of us can claim to be innocent

(refrain x2)

Lead Us to Your Light (psalm 27/Marc Coderre)
One thing I ask, this I seek
To dwell in the house of the Lord all my days
That I may gaze on the face of the Lord
And contemplate his temple

The Lord is my salvation
Of whom should I be afraid?
The Lord is my life’s refuge
Of whom should I be fear?

Hear, O Lord, the sound of my call
Have pity on me and answer me
Of you my heart speaks; your presence I seek
Hide not your face from me

The Lord is my salvation
Of whom should I be afraid?
The Lord is my life’s refuge
Of whom should I be fear?

refrain:
Save us O Lord
Lead us to your light
Save us O Lord
Lead us to your light, O Lord

You are my helper, cast me not off
Forsake me not, O God my saviour
Though my father and mother forsake me
Yet will the Lord receive me

The Lord is my life’s refuge
Of whom should I be fear?

(refrain x2)

I believe that I shall see
The Lord’s bounty in the land of the living

Faces of the Children (Kathy Sherman CSJ)
How can we turn away from the faces of the children
faces bearing hunger, faces bearing pain?
Who will feed their hungers and comfort all their pain?
Tell me, is it you, is it I, and when will we?

And who will plant the dreams in the minds of the children
minds so often frightened, minds that long to hope?
Who will keep their dreams alive and see that they come true?
Tell me, is it you, is it I, and when will we?

And who will be the love in the hearts of the children
hearts of our tomorrow, hearts in need today?
Who will give example of all that life can be?
Tell me, is it you, is it I, and when will we?

(Is it I?)
Look into the depths of your soul
Where do you see tomorrow?
It’s in the minds and hearts and faces of the children
Let us join as one
(Join as one)

So let us join as one for the sake of the children
children wanting us to hope and needing us to care
Who will make a difference in the future of the earth?
Tell me, is it you, is it I, and when will we?

Is it I, and when will we?

Waiting For Justice (Marc Coderre)
You are my shepherd; you sustain me
My fortress my stronghold; you protect me
Others forsake me, yet you receive me
You are my refuge; Lord, deliver me

refrain 1:
I’m waiting for justice
I’m waiting for mercy
I’m waiting for compassion
I’m waiting to be free

You are my salvation; you are my light
You hear my cry Lord; you know my plight
Though I walk in darkness, you are my guide
I will fear no evil for you are at my side

refrain 2:
I’m waiting for fairness
I’m waiting for equality
I’m waiting for acceptance
I’m waiting to be free

You are not forgotten
You are not alone
You are not forgotten
You are not alone

(Refrain 1 & 2)

Behold Now the Kingdom (John Michael Talbot)
A multitude followed a man
a prophet who spoke words of wisdom
And they listened trying to understand
the paradox of his great truth

He said Blessed be those who are poor
for you shall inherit the kingdom
And blessed be those who are weak
for you shall inherit great strength

Blessed be those who are children
for you shall be counted as wise
And blessed be the blind ones
for you shall see with new eyes

refrain:
Behold now the kingdom
Behold now the kingdom
Behold now the kingdom
See with new eyes

Blessed be those of compassion
for you shall inherit compassion
And blessed be those who forgive
for you shall be forgiven

You shall receive consolation
only in reaching to give
And only in dying for others
can you be reborn to live

(refrain)

So a multitude followed a Man
a Prophet who spoke words of wisdom
And they listened yet could not understand
the paradox of His great truth

Gloria (gloria/Marc Coderre)
Lord Jesus Christ
Only Son of the Father, Lord God
Lamb of God
You take away the sins of the world
Have mercy on us
Receive our prayer

refrain:
Glory, glory to God in highest and
Peace to God’s people on earth
We worship you, we give you thanks
We praise you for your glory

For you alone are the Holy One
You alone are the Lord
You alone are the Most High
Jesus Christ
With the Holy Spirit
In the glory of God the Father

(refrain x2)

Gloria, Gloria, in excelsis deo

Lord God, heavenly king
Almighty God and Father

(refrain x2)

The Bread of Life (John Michael Talbot)
Take this bread, take this bread
I am the bread of life
It is my body broken for you
I am meek and lowly of heart
Take this cup, drink of this cup
I am the living water
It is my blood shed for you
I am poured out for the life of the world

Lamb of God Love of God
I am the Lamb of God
Who takes away this world’s sin
the chosen One to forgive the sins of the world

Lamb of God, Light of God
I am the light of God
grant to us, grant us peace
to guide our feet to the way of peace

Lord, Lord, we are not worthy to receive you
Lord, Lord, only speak your Word
Only speak your Word
And we shall be healed
We shall be healed
We shall be healed
We shall be healed

My People (Robert Dufford SJ)
refrain:
My people
what have I done to you?
Why, why have you rejected me?

I lead you out of Egypt ’cross desert sand
for forty years I fed you manna from my hand
I brought you safely to your promised land
And you prepare a cross for me

(refrain)

What should I do for you that I have not yet down?
You are a chosen vineyard planted as me own
I watched and tended you as you have never known
And now you turn your face from me

(refrain)

My people
Answer me

Surely He Bore All My Grief (Michel Guimont
He had no form nor beauty
that we should look at him again
without fame, without glory
a thing despised, a man of sorrows

refrain:
He does not cry, never whispers
his voice was never to be heard
Surely he carried all my sorrows
surely he bore all of my grief

Like a lamb led to the slaughter
He never said a moaning word
He does not break the bending reed
nor does he quench the wavering flame

(refrain)

And from the land of the living
by force and law was torn away
they made his grave with the wicked
and with the rich they made his tomb

(refrain)

Surely he bore all of my grief
Surely he bore all of my grief

Prayer Before the Cross (John Michael Talbot)
We adore you most Holy Lord Jesus Christ
Lord Jesus Christ
As we gather together in this place
and throughout all the world

We worship you Lord
We adore you O Lord
And we bless your holy name

For by your cross
You have redeemed us
You have redeemed all the world

Easter Exultet (Michael Coderre)
a) REJOICE
refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice
He is risen, he is risen
Alleluia

Rejoice, O Earth in shining splendour
Radiant in the brightness of your King
Christ has conquered glory fills you
Darkness vanishes forever

(refrain)

Rejoice, O Mother Church, exult in glory
The risen Saviour shines upon you
Let this place resound with joy
Echoing our mighty song

(refrain)

Rejoice, O Heavenly Powers
Sing choirs of angels
Sound the trumpet of Salvation
Give praise
All creation praise your Glory
Give glory
Jesus Christ, our King is risen

(refrain)

The Lord be with you
And also with you
Lift up you hearts
We lift them up to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord, Our God
It is right to give him thanks and praise

“It is truly right that with full hearts and minds and voices
we should praise the unseen God, the all-powerful Father,
and his only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ”

b) CHRIST HAS RANSOMED US
refrain:
Christ has ransomed us, he has paid the price
Through his blood he has given us new life

This is the night of our Passover feast
when Christ the True Lamb is slain
Whose blood consecrates
the homes of all who believe
This is the night when you first saved our ancestors
You freed the people of Israel
You saved them from their slavery
and led them safely through the sea

(refrain)

This is the night when the pillar of fire
destroyed the darkness of sin
This is the night when Christian everywhere
Are washed clean of sin and restored to grace

(refrain)

This is the night when Jesus Christ
broke the chains of death
And rose triumphant from the grave

c) THIS IS THE NIGHT
What good would life have been to us
had Christ not come as our Redeemer?

Father how wonderful you care for us
How merciful you boundless love
To ransom a slave you gave away your son

O happy fault, O necessary sin of Adam
Which gained for use so great a Redeemer

Most blessed of all nights chosen by our Father
To see Christ rising from the dead
This night will be as clear as day
This night will be my light and my joy

The power of this night dispels all evil
Washes guilt away
Banishes hatred
Humbles the proud of heart
Brings us peace
How merciful your love for us

Night most truly blest, when heaven to earth is wed
When we are reconciled with God

“Therefore, heavenly Father, in the joy of this night,
recieve our sacrifice of praise – Your church’s solemn offering.
Accept this Easter candle; a flame divided but undimmed,
a pillar of fire that glows to the honour of God.
Let it mingle with the lights of heaven
and continue bravely burning to dispel the darkness of the night.”

d) REJOICE (reprise)
refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice
He is risen, he is risen
Alleluia

May the morning star which never sets
Find this flame still burning
Christ, who came back from the dead
Sheds his peaceful light on all

(refrain)

Unity (Marc Coderre)
You don’t need uniformity to have unity
You don’t need conformity to have community
You don’t have to be like me to be able to like me
We can have unity in diversity

You have to look beyond the borderlines
Your way isn’t better and neither is mine

We are one humanity regardless of ideology
We are one family regardless of theology
We can have solidarity and individuality
We can have unity in diversity

Though we may not always see eye to eye
What joins us is greater than what divides

Though we live quite differently
We are the same basically
Though we have different histories
We share a common destiny
We can have harmony though we sometimes disagree
We can have unity in diversity

Our world in our time can live as one
Can you be the light of the world, can you be the light?
Can you give your love to the world, can you give your light?

    • until now I never heard of WAP. I think it is possible to put and add on feature in wordpress to make the site readable from a mobile device – I’ll look into this. I don’t have mobile devices, so I was not aware of the existance or value of WAP until now.
